Floye Erlyne (Moore) Sherrill, 80, of Harlingen, TX, was called home to heaven on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 surrounded by her family at Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, TX. Floye Erlyne (Moore) Sherrill, was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all. She was a firm believer in God, family and country. Born in Harlingen, Texas on January 9, 1935, she was a long time resident of the Harlingen/San Benito area. After high school, she joined the Army and proudly served at Camp David. Upon her honorable discharge from the Army, she settled down in the Valley and raised her family. She was raised in the Nazarene Church but spent her later years as an active church member of Calvary Baptist Church in Harlingen. The Calvary Christian School was one of her favorite charities. She enjoyed genealogy, gardening, and playing with her grandchildren. She was a political activist and active member in the local T.E.A. party. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, and HOST reading program teacher. Family meant everything to her. Lord Jesus was her savior and God was her Father. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Lonzo Moore and Floye Elizabeth Minton. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, William J. Sherrill, her daughters; Melissa (James) Paczkowski, Dia Smart, Vanetta (Curt) Hand, and Sherry (Ken) Roberson, her son, David Sherrill. Her siblings; Earl (Joy) Moore, Dewana Winn, Kay Seifert, Jerry Beer, Jack Moore, 12 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Harlingen, TX Funeral service will be begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1815 N. 7th St in Harlingen, with graveside services to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito. Honored to serve as pall bearers are her grandsons; Michael Andrade, Joseph Smart, Kevin Sherrill, Nicholas Sherrill, Brandon Hand, Colin Sherrill, Mathew Hand. In lieu of flowers the family requests that the donations be made to Calvary Christian School 1815 N. 7th St in Harlingen, TX.
