Roberto Montemayor, Sr.,91, of San Benito, Texas, entered into eternal rest on December 12, 2014. Roberto served during World War II, in the Far East campaign including the occupation of Japan. He worked for Southmost Sash and Door Company for over 30 years until his retirement. He loved to farm his land on the weekends and taught everyone in the family the value of hard work. He loved his family dearly and greatly missed the love of his life, Estrella, his wife of over 55 years, They are now reunited for all eternity. The family would like to thank all who cared for Roberto during the last five years, Magda, Maria Louisa, Laura, Erica, Elva and Rollie, you all made his last years memorable. We would also like to thank Dr. Flores and his staff as well the Bee First Hospice staff for their caring and delicate care in his last days. Mr. Montemayor will be missed by all that knew him, he left this earth the way he lived his life, on his own terms. He was preceded in death by: his wife Estrella, son, Miguel Angel Montemayor; parents, Jose Angel and Refugia Cantu Montemayor; and siblings: Ernesto Montemayor, Cruz G. Montemayor, and Jose Ruben Montemayor. Surviving Roberto are his children: Perla (Bob) Ortega, Robert (Belinda) Montemayor, Jr., Jose Angel (Letty) Montemayor, Cruz G. (Linda) Montemayor, Lori Ann Montemayor, and Criselda (Mike) Elizondo; siblings: Elida Phillips and Hernan Montemayor; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Mond ay, December 15, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Funeral mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
