Reyes Guillen, Sr. of Port Isabel, Texas, entered into rest on September 15, 2014 at his residence. Reyes was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel and a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He was a shrimper in the shrimping industry for over 50 years with Zimmerman Net Shop, Callaway Shrimping, and WBP Shrimp Producers Corp. before retiring in 1998. He was preceded in death by his son, Hector Guillen; grandsons: Isaias Mata, Ernest Grienier, Jr., Joseph Nunez; his parents, Ysaac and Anastacia Rivera Guillen; and three brothers: Jesus Castillo, Pedro Castillo, and Chano Castillo. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nora Guillen; 18 children: Reyes (Josie) Guillen, Jr., Cecilia (Jose) Esquivel, Wenceslao (Maria) Guillen, Patricia (James) Kirt, Irma (Isaias) Mata, Velia Guillen, Inez Brougham, Ana Laura (Everardo) Belmares, Ma de Lourdes Guillen, Anabel (Ruben) Guillen-Valdez, Flor (Chris Cantu) Guillen, Lourdes (Joe) Nunez, Gill Jay (Clara) Grienier, Debbie (Arnoldo) Martinez, Ernest Grienier, Carr (Yolanda) Grienier, Evelyn (Angel) Barrientos, Janel (Robert Benavidez) Grienier; 62 grandchildren; 118 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived three brothers: Vicente Guillen, Wenceslao Guillen, and Alfredo Galvan; and one sister, Inez Castillo Rivera. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Visitation will continue from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Cremation will follow in accordance to his wishes.
