Port Isabel, TX- Maria Monserato Gomez, 37, of Port Isabel, TX, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at her residence. She was a resident of Port Isabel since 1996 and a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Port Isabel. She worked at Dirty Al's restaurant on South Padre Island for many years. She is preceded in death by her mother, Victoria Guzman. She is survived by her husband, Cristobal Betancourt of Port Isabel; six children: Enedina Betancourt of Houston, TX, Cristobal (Gloria) Betancourt, Jr. of Port Isabel, Yvonne Gomez of Houston, TX, Alejandro Betancourt of Port Isabel, Monica Gomez of Houston, TX, Kassandra Betancourt of Port Isabel; five grandchildren; father, Apolonio Aguilar of Edinburg, TX; stepfather: Jesus Trejo of Houston, TX; two brothers: Jesse (Candy) Aguilar of Edinburg, TX and Gilbert Aguilar of Houston, TX; one stepsister, Magda Campos of Houston, TX. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives. Visitation will be held Friday, May 20, 2011 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Visitation will continue from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church located on 110 Port Road in Port Isabel, TX. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church. Cremation will follow to Sacred Park Crematorium. Serving as pallbearers are: Gilbert Aguilar, Alejandro Betancourt, Cristobal Betancourt, Jr., Aaron Joel Aguilar, George Oceguera, George Oceguera, Jr., and Jesse Aguilar.
