RIO HONDO, TX - Lis Van Nurden Born on August 1, 1936 went to the Lord July 25, 2008. Lis was a loving wife who came to the U.S. by herself from Peru, S.A. under contract. She spoke no English but she was a determined lady. She learned the language, received her High School Diploma and became an accomplished Cosmetologist, all in less than 2 years. She became an U.S. citizen when she married Reginald, a military man, on July 27, 1963. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, her son, Carlos, who is serving in Iraq; plus a sister, brother, a daughter-in-law, Dee; 3 grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
