San Benito, TX - Silverio Cortez, 60, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. He retired from AT&T after 25+ years of service. After his retirement he moved back to his hometown, San Benito, Texas to spend time with his mother. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and golf. He was a kind generous man who touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. Mr. Cortez in preceded in death by his father Mateo Cortez. He is survived by his mother, Guadalupe C. Cortez; sons, Jesse A. Cortez and Jason (Gloria) Cortez; grandchildren, Mateo W. H. Cortez and Sophia Lorena Cortez; brother, Mateo (Debbie) Cortez Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held today, Friday, July 11, 2008 from 12 PM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church in San Benito, Texas. Committal service will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.
