Raymond Chester Canada, 83, of Port Isabel, Texas went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 28, 2011 in Harlingen, TX at the Solara Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Canada was a World War II Veteran and Honorably Discharge from United States Navy; he was a resident of Port Isabel and a shrimper in shrimping industry. He was also a bay boat owner by the name of "Rosita" for many years. Raymond had a passion for hunting and spending time with his family. He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosa Eva Trevino Garcia Canada; his parents, Obie and Lorine Thomas Canada; Step son, Jesus Omar Torres Sr.; his sister, Corine Crawford; his brother, Gerald Canada; and his brother in law, Henry Crawford. He is survived by his Step-sons, Baldemar Torres Jr. and Homero Arturo (Rosario) Torres; his Step-daughter, Francisca Judith (Aaron) Moore; a daughter in law, Lydia Quintanilla Torres; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2011 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel. Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday, May 2, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Cremation will follow to Sacred Park Crematorium. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 498 and V.F.W. Post 8791of Port Isabel, TX and V.F.W. Post 2035 of Brownsville, TX. Serving as Pallbearers will be Aaron Sidney Moore, Ross Elliot Moore, John Edward Moore, Baldemar Torres III, Homero Torres Jr., Rueben Torres, Amador Torres, Jesus Omar Torres Jr., and Angel Jacinto Torres.
