Obituary of Mary Ray

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Maria Bernal Ray, 52, of Laguna Vista, Texas, went to her eternal rest with the Lord on November 13, 2013 surrounded by family and friends. Maria Bernal Ray, or better known as Mary, was the funniest lady you would ever know. She loved to make jokes and make people laugh. She loved gardening and always took care of the children at the trailer park they owned during Christmas or for anyone who was in need. Mary loved to fish and had caught yellow fin tuna in Hawaii, hundreds of bass in Largo Vista Mexico, striped marlin in Cabo San Lucas, sailfish in Zihuatanejo and many tarpon in the Gulf of Mexico. Her #1 pride in her life was her daughter Alexa. If you knew Mary, you knew that if you were going to have a conversation with her, the first thing she would be talking to you about was Alexa. She was the proudest mother a mom could be and attended every event that Alexa was in, including football games, band competitions, and theatre performances. She was preceded in death by her father Gilberto Bernal. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 25 years, Bryan D. Ray of Laguna Vista; her love and joy of her life daughter, Alexa Ocean Ray of Laguna Vista; her mother, Katy B. Pena of Port Isabel; two sisters: Isabel (Raul) Valdez of Laguna Vista, Lucy (Rey) Puente of Port Isabel and two brothers: Richard (Rose) Bernal of Glendale, Arizona and Gilbert Bernal of Port Isabel. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church located on 705 S. Longoria St in Port Isabel, Texas. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Jamis Bernal, Raul Valdez, Jr., Ernest Christopher Puente, Rey Puente, Jr., Jeff Hartung, Jr. & Josh Hartung. Honorary pallbearers are Mary, Sue, Robin, Janie, Sharon, Sandy, Georgiana, Rosario, Carmen and Joy.
