San Benito, Texas- Maria R Mata, 73, of San Benito, Texas entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 27, 2013 in Retama Manor, Harlingen, Texas. She was born October 22, 1939 in San Benito, Texas to Jose and Dolores Barrientos Rivas. She preceded in death by her husband, Luciano (chano) Mata; a sister, Flora Rivas. She is survived by her children Luciano (Ruby) Mata and Gracie (Leonel) Zuniga; 8 grandchildren, Luciano Mata III, Jose Mata, Gilberto Mata, Leonel Zuniga Jr., John Zuniga, Miguel Zuniga, Pearla Zuniga and Leanna Zuniga; a sister, Dominga Rivas; 3 brothers, Juan Rivas, Guadalupe Rivas and Domingo Rivas and other relatives. Visitation will be held Monday, September 30, 2013 from 1 P.M. to 9 P.M. with a rosary to be recited at 7 P.M. at Thomae Garza Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be will be on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 10 A.M. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Committal service will follow to San Benito City Cemetery.
