Josefa "Chepita" Resendez, 89, of San Benito, Texas, passed away on August 18, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Josefa was born in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico. She was a very dedicated woman to her family who loved gardening, to sing, and taking care of her farm animals. A life well lived by touching other lives; she will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Geronimo O. Resendez; her son, Rafael Resendez; and parents, Juanita Macias and Felipe Rodriguez. Josefa is survived by her daughters: Rosa Resendez (Ruben) Cantu, Juanita Resendez (Agapito Jr.) Serrato, and Martina Resendez; sons: Juan Pablo (Felipa) Resendez, Martin Resendez, Frank (Irma) Resendez, Felipe (Sylvia) Resendez, Valente (Mary) Resendez, Geronimo (Kang) Resendez Jr., Narciso (Elena) Resendez. Also surviving her is her daughter-in-law, Connie Resendez, 28 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary at 7:00 pm, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Funeral mass will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Benito. Committal service will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
