Cosme C. Garza, Jr., 75, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on August 8, 2013 at his residence. Cosme was born on December 26, 1937 in Port Isabel, Texas. He worked with the Texas Department of Transportation for more than 30 years and was a volunteer firefighter with the Port Isabel Fire Department. He traveled to Matamoros during the Christmas holidays to donate food and clothing for the needy, and would host parties for the less fortunate. He was a lifetime member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Amparo G. Garza; his son, Francisco Eleno Garza; parents Cosme Garza Sr and Alicia C. Garza; and brothers, Frankie Garza and Juan Jose Garza. Mr. Garza is survived by his wife, Laura Madrid Garza; his daughter Norma Garza; sons: Eric (Leticia) Garza and Henry (Lulu) Garza; seven stepchildren: Ariane Martinez, Angeles Martinez, Blanca Martinez, Noehmi Martinez, Jessica Martinez, Arturo Martinez, and Reyna Martinez; sisters: Juanita G. (+Roberto) Gonzales and Mary A. (Perry) Aby; brothers: Michael (Aurelio) Garza, Roberto (Estella) Garza, and Rodolfo (Irma) Garza; 7 grandchildren: Daisy, Alexis, Cosme Eric, Frankie, Brandi, Codi, and Nicholas; eight step grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving him are his aunts Viola C. Vasquez and Braulia C. Grant, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary at 7:00 pm, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705. S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, Texas. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Cremation will follow in accordance to his wishes. Serving as pallbearers Frank L.
