Harlingen,TX - Olidia Garcia Vargas, 81, of San Benito passed away on June 3, 2013 at Valley Baptist Medical Center. Olidia was born on August 28, 1931 in the neighborhood of "La Hermosa" of San Benito to the late Gregorio and Maria Garcia. In June of 1949, she married Pablo Vargas Martinez and together they had ten children. Olidia attended school in the San Benito School District and worked as a nurses assistant for a short period. She loved to sing, dance, play chalupa and make others laugh. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Pablo Vargas on one daughter Rachel Vargas. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Janie (Wayne) Greene, Anna (Everardo) Cavazos, Maria (Jack) Evans, Theresa Vargas, Dina (Omar) Garcia; Sons, Miguel (Rosemarie) Vargas, Pablo (Cresencia) Vargas, Pedro (Angela) Vargas and Sem (Rosie) Vargas; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Theresa Gallardo and one brother Gregorio Garcia Jr. both of Sterling, Illinois, stepmother Soledad Garcia and step siblings. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Odyssey Hospice at Valley Baptist Medical Center for their support during her final days.
