Pedro Segovia Gonzalez, 80, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. Pedro was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel and. He loved gardening and planting fruits and vegetables. He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and donated to the Sheriff Society for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria "Nena" Lucila Gonzalez; son Pedro Gonzalez Jr., parents, Francisco and Esperanza Segovia Gonzalez; four brothers: Jose, Alberto, Trinidad, and Francisco Gonzalez; and two sisters: San Juana Cantu and Paula Guerrero. Pedro is survived by four sons: Francisco (Jeanette) Cantu, Miguel Maximo Gonzalez, Rolando Gonzalez, and Pedro (Stacy) Gonzalez III; his daughter Jennifer Marie Gonzalez; his sister Carmela Mireles; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Visitation will continue from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary at 7:00 pm, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Cremation will follow in accordance to his wishes. Serving as pallbearers are: Roberto Rivera Jr., Juan Rivera, Kevin Santos, Manny Esparza, Michael Gonzalez Sr., and Justin Cantu.
