Obituary of Nedra Schroeder

Nedra Brown Schroeder, 101, passed away at her home in Port Isabel, Texas on January 13, 2013. She was the eldest of 12 children, born on October 11, 1911 in South Dakota to Martha and Neal Brown. She was united in marriage to Walter Schroeder. They lived and farmed in Rindal, Minnesota and in 1968, they moved to Port Isabel, Texas. Nedra was an avid gardener, cook, reader, seamstress, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, an infant daughter, Sidone, and two grandsons, Walter Dance and Mitchell Dunn. She is survived by her children: Gwen Vasenden of Reno, Nevada, Jane Dance, Jon (Ann) Schroeder, both of Port Isabel, Texas, and Diana (Chuck) Dunn of Spirit Lake, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, 101 W. Adams St. in Port Isabel with Rev. Cheri Brewster officiating.
