Obituary of Odelia S. Serrata

Odelia S. Serrata, 92, of Los Fresnos, TX passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Odelia was born in San Benito, TX on May 25, 1932 to Celestino and Trinidad De Los Santos. Odelia married the love of her life, Jose Serrata in 1953. They were married 54 years and had 5 children.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Serrata; 2 grandsons, Pete Serrata, Jr. and Jose “Mikey” Garza; siblings: Celestino De Los Santos, Carlos De Los Santos, Robert De Los Santos, and Ofelia Villalon.

Left to cherish her memory are her 5 children: Celeste (Jose) Ortega, Carmen (Joe) Hernandez, Alma (Jesus) Fayett, Joe (Chris) Serrata and Pete (Jill) Serrata; siblings, Dora Rubio, Minnie Moraida, and Alfonso De Los Santos; 8 grandchildren: Euneza Vera, Joey Vera, Joe Garza, Sasha (Juan) Sotelo, Sicilly (Juan Carlos) Rubio, D'Jesus Fayett, Joe Serrata IV, and Melissa (Valerie) Serrata;  6 great grandchildren: Mike Garza, Victoria Garza, Salma Sotelo, Jian Sotelo, Regina Ramirez, and Cissy Rubio.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 606 W. Ocean Blvd., Los Fresnos, TX with interment to follow to Los Cuates Cemetery in Los Fresnos, TX.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Joe Garza, D’Jesus Fayett, Jian Sotelo, Juan Sotelo, Juan Carlos Rubio and Joey Vera.
