Marie Del Rosario "Rosie" Garcia, 77, of Harlingen, TX passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Valley Baptist Medical Center – Harlingen. Mrs. Garcia was a native of San Benito. She was born January 22, 1947, in San Benito to Mr. and Mrs. Esiquio Luna Sr. and Feliciana "Chanita" Cortez Luna. Mrs. Garcia attended San Benito schools, graduating from San Benito High School in 1965. Mrs. Garcia enjoyed a long and successful career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 2000. Mrs. Garcia was a caring mother with many lifelong friends. She enjoyed sporting activities such as hunting and fishing to name a few. Vacationing to Las Vegas brought her much joy and excitement. Mrs. Garcia was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of The Universe Catholic Church in San Benito, Texas. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her mother Feliciana "Chanita" Cortez Luna, father, Esiquio Luna Sr., and brother Ramiro Luna. Mrs. Garcia is survived by her son Jack L. Garcia, grandson Jake Charles Garcia; brother Esiquio "Zeke" (Andrea) Luna; nephew Eric Luna; enduring friend Richard Santana, and many cousins. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. A Chapel Service will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home with entombment to follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park. Pallbearers: Esiquio "Zeke" Luna Jr., Jack L. Garcia, Herb Amaya, Richard Santana, Jake Charles Garcia, and Charlie Cortez. Special recognition goes to Dr. Todd Shenkenberg, nurses, and staff of Valley Cancer Associates. Mrs. Garcia developed a special patient relationship with Dr. Shenkeberg being a patient for 28 years.
