Walter E. Hill, 77 years old died on June 8th, 2024, at Valley Regional Medical center in Brownsville, TX. He was born on February 22nd, 1947, to Harley and Yvonne (Schroder) Hill in Clarion, IA. He was raised on their family farm outside of Dows, IA. He attended Dows High School where he was a star basketball player and was crowned prom king. He graduated in 1965. After high school he joined the United States Air Force where he reached the rank of staff sergeant. He was Crew Chief on a General’s plane and flew all over the world. He was stationed in Germany and served from 1966 to 1972. After his service, he worked at an airplane manufacturing plant in Connecticut. He later returned to Iowa and started Goldfield electric with his brother Lanny. In 1983 he started working at Boone Valley Co-op in Eagle Grove. Later known as AGP. He worked his way up through the company starting in maintenance, then maintenance superintendent and retiring as a plant manager. He retired from AGP after 26 years, in February 2009. Walt was married to Bonnie Boyd on October 8th, 1983, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They started life together in Holmes, Iowa then Webster City, Sgt. Bluff, Stratford, and St. Joseph, Missouri. Early on, with their children they enjoyed going to horse shows competing in events across Iowa. He had many different hobbies along the way. He enjoyed raising animals, going boating, playing golf but he always enjoyed riding his beloved Harley-Davidson. Walt & Bon retired to South Texas, where he was able to enjoy spending time with family and friends. There he rediscovered his love of golf and could finally ride his Harley anytime he wanted. His love for golf led him to work 3 days a week in the Pro Shop at South Padre Island Golf Club. He was preceded in death by his daughter Rondi; Parents, Harley & Yvonne Hill; Parent-in-laws, Walt & Beverly Boyd; Brothers-in-law, Terry Boyd and Jim JW Anderson. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Bon Hill; his Son, Rob and his wife Emily; Grandchildren Eden, Navi, Andrew, Avery & Alec; Sister, Sheila Anderson and brother Lanny Hill; Sister-in-law, Peg (Dave) Fosnaugh & brother-in-law Rex (Esther) Boyd. In addition, he had two children from a previous marriage; Troy (Joan) and Tracy (Doug) from Clarion; five grandchildren, Colton, Halic Ballard (Doug) , Zoc, Drake, Kenna, and two great grandchildren, Oakleigh and Amelia Ballard, and several nieces and nephews. But that’s not all... He was a husband, brother, dad, papa, uncle, best friend and will be missed by everyone who loved him. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at South Padre Island Golf Club, 1 Golf House Rd., Laguna Vista, TX 78578.
