Alicia Sanchez, 96, of Harlingen, Texas entered peacefully into God’s heavenly kingdom on Friday, May 10, 2024. Alicia was a lifelong parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Benito, Texas. She worked for HEB Canning Company in Corpus Christi, alongside her sister, Delfina, for 20 years driving back every week to San Benito to see her daughter, Lourdes and mother, Dolores. Besides having a strong work ethic, Alicia was an attentive caregiver through the years for her mother, daughter, sister, and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, kindness, and sense of humor. Alicia is preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Dolores Sanchez; brothers, Luis Sanchez and Jesus Ramirez; sisters, Delfina Sanchez and Severa Gonzalez; sister-in-law, Lydia Sanchez; and brother-in-law, Angel Garcia. She is survived by her only daughter and son-in-law, Lourdes and Joe Silva, grandchildren, Joe Silva, III, Kaila and Faith Silva, great-grandson, Osiris Silva Stoer, and her sister Hilda Garcia. Tia Licha is also survived by her nieces and nephews who loved her dearly: Gracie Miranda, Luis (Benita) Sanchez, Emerita (+Rey) Miranda, and Enedelia (Jose) Claudio; and her nieces and nephews from Illinois: Dolores, Angel (Noelle), Eloy (Ana), Carmen, and Eddie (Starr) Garcia. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Combes St., San Benito, TX officiated by Fr. Joe Villalon. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito. Serving as pallbearers are Joe Silva, Jr., Joe Silva, III, Osiris Silva Stoer, Reynaldo Miranda, Juan Garcia, and Joel Barrientos. Alicia’s family would like to thank the support of her providers, Ester Barrientos, and Myrna Gonzales, who helped her daily with love and gentle care. Also, a special thank you to the Gentiva Hospice Staff for their genuine concern, care, and patience. A special message for Momma: Thank you for all your love and for the many memories you gave me. Thank you for loving your grandkids as your own. Thank you for your faith in God. I know you are rejoicing in heaven in the room God made especially for you!
