Minerva Vasquez Mora, age 71, passed away in Austin, Texas surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 3, 2012. She was born in Brownsville, Texas at 9:00 am on April 23, 1941 to Juana Gomez and Castulo Vasquez, Sr. On February 18, 1962, she married Aramis Mora (retired MSGT) in Brownsville, Texas. During his two tours in the Vietnam War, Minerva maintained a loving and stable home for her daughters. Upon his return, they moved to Laredo, Texas and later returned to Austin where she began working at Motorola. Minerva was a very strong woman and deeply devoted to her Catholic faith. She spent twelve years working as a church secretary and book keeper for Holy Family Church in Brownsville, Texas. She later worked with her sister and brother-in-law, Mavi and Baldomero Torres, at M&B Services helping clients with their income tax returns. Minerva loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved playing cards & bingo, going to the movies and watching her novellas. She was particularly fond in reading and watching Danielle Steel books & movies. She also loved sports, especially her Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and Texas Longhorns. She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Mora, her parents, her brother, Juan G. Vasquez and her beloved niece, Belinda Torres Rocha. Minerva is survived by her four children: Melva Ybarra (Louis), Melissa Mora, Milda Mora (Steve Medel), and Marc Albert Mora; eight grandchildren: Yvonne R. Ybarra, Alyssa K. Ybarra, Michael L. Ybarra, Rosa Linda Guzman, Pablo M. Guzman III, Phillip M. Torres, Mireya O. Medel and Alex Mora; five great-grandchildren: Jordan and Anthony Montez, Belinda "Belle" and Genevieve "Genny" Solorzano, and Jonah Butler; three sisters: Mavi V. Torres (Baldomero), Norma Vasquez, and Natalia V. Martin (Ralph†); and six brothers: Luis Carlos Vasquez (Maria), Rene Vasquez, Sr. (Gloria), Robert Vasquez (Nellie), Lionel "Chester" Vasquez, Noe Vasquez (Linda), and Castulo Vasquez, Jr. (Betsy†). She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., with a holy rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012 at Holy Family Church, 2405 E. Tyler Street, Brownsville, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Holy Family Church with interment following at Buena Vista Burial Park. Pallbearers are Phillip Matthew Torres, Michael Louis Ybarra, Carlos Alejandro Capistran-Mora, Michael Jacob Torres, Rene Vasquez, Jr., Marco Antonio Vasquez, Adrian Joel Rocha and Federico Lambert III. Honorary Pallbearers are Pablo Manuel Guzman III, Aramis Jordan Montez, Manuel Anthony Montez, and Jonah Louis Butler.
