Horace David Higginbotham, also known as Capt'n Dave, was born on November 26, 1949 in Brownsville, Texas. He passed away on December 8, 2023 at his home after a two year battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Higginbotham, and his two daughters, Kara, of New York City, NY, and Lori, of McAllen, TX and his brother George Wilton Higginbotham of Laguna Vista, TX. Preceded in death by his father Wilton Higginbotham, his mother Ella May Simms, his brother Mark Higginbotham, and his sisters Ella Mae Warrell, Liz Stone, Brenda Cruz, and Gale Daniel. David was a charter boat captain on the Laguna Madre for over 30 years. In his younger days, he was a shrimper on his family boats and made his way up to Captain. He was adventurous - loved to surf, fish and scuba dive in various places in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. His lively personality will be missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
