Carlos Cruz Herrera, 73, of Port Isabel, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, TX. Carlos, Dios nos bendijo con un amado esposo, padre, abuelo, bisabuelo, tío, padrino y amigo. Gracias por tu amor incondicional y por siempre brindarnos y traernos alegría. Que descanses en la gloria de Dios. Carlos retired after 17 years at Garriaga Elementary School in Port Isabel as a Nutrition Specialist. He worked at Schlitterbahn/Beach Park on South Padre Island for several years. He was an usher, attendant with the A.C.T.S. retreat, and long-time member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel, TX. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 51 years, Maria De Cruz; 2 sons, 2 daughters, 2 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, and 1 great grandson. In addition, he is survived by his 12 siblings. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St, Port Isabel, TX 78578 with Interment to follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery.
