Abelardo Peña passed away on October 14, 2023, in New Braunfels, Texas. Known to many as Borrado, he was born to Gilberto Peña and Maria Peña in Matamoros, Tamaulipas on May 29, 1948. He grew up loving baseball and had a great love of being with family. Abelardo was always ready to crack a joke and bring laughter to those around him. He enjoyed telling stories and always gave the best hugs. He loved listening to his polkas, conjunto music and loved taking pictures with his family. His greatest love was playing and spending time with his grandchildren. We will miss him and always have him in our hearts. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Margarita Peña (Hernandez), children Marisa Peters (Christopher) Abelardo Peña Jr. and Nereida Montalvo (German). Grandchildren Brianna Villa Treviño (Justin), Amaris Villa Garcia (Eric), Christopher Michael Peters II, Michael Vincent Peters, Abdiel Natal, and Joaquin Montalvo. Honorary Pallbearers are Adolfo "Fito" Peña, Abelardo Peña Jr., Christopher Peters, Christopher Peters II, German Montalvo, Abdiel Natal. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home, 395 South Sam Houston Blvd., in San Benito, Texas. A Chapel Service will be held at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with a burial to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Cemetery in San Benito, Texas.
