Diana Gonzalez Castillo-Chastain, 62, of Port Isabel, TX passed away at her residence on Sunday, October 8, 2023. Diana was born on September 22, 1961, in San Benito, TX. She and her husband loved spending quality time together cooking, traveling, hosting friends and family. Together they enjoyed sitting by the river at their home. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She raised her children after the loss of her husband Ruben with love, pride, and strength. Her grandbabies meant everything to her and was in constant contact with each one of them. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her grandchildren. She had a passion for interior design and floral design. She studied at Shelton School of Floral Design. Diana was an interior designer for Sister’s Trading Co. for 35 plus years, retired at 60 and opened her own business, Cabana Interiors. She made floral arrangements for Miss USA, Miss America, and numerous prestigious events. She served on the Point Isabel ISD School Board for 8 years and was currently serving for TSC Foundation Board of Directors. Diana was one to never hesitate to give back to the community. Her contagious laugh, energy, kind heart, compassion, and smile will be missed dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Castillo Sr.; parents, Gualberto and Victoria Gonzalez; daughter, Tabatha Ann Melchor; brother, Gualberto Gonzalez Jr.; and stepson Craig Ryan Chastain. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Ernest Lee Chastain; children, daughter, Kiana (Dennis) Franks; son, Ruben (Priscilla) Castillo; son, Joseph A. (Tillery Martin) Castillo; daughter, Victoria D. Castillo; and son Eric J. Chastain. In addition, she is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Raul Melchor Jr., Andrea Calderon, Keanu Evans, Gilbert Garza, Harper G. Castillo, Bella G. Franks, Madden Castillo, and Beckett Castillo; 2 great grandchildren, Emmie Calderon, and Liana Calderon; 1 sister, Jeannie Torrez; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, TX 78578.
