Brian “El Borrego” Lopez, 43, of Port Isabel, TX passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. Brian Lopez aka "El Borrego," of Port Isabel passed away at the young age of 43 on September 13th in Lubbock, TX. Brian was born on May 5th, 1980 and raised in Port Isabel. He was the 2nd eldest of 5 boys and had been working in Hobbs, New Mexico for Nico Energy Services LLC for the past 3 years. He had a passion for fishing and cooking. He was always inventing new recipes for his family to try. Brian was a man of many titles: son, brother, uncle but his greatest accomplishment was being a father. Brian worked many hours away but he always made it a point to call his children every morning before school and every night before bed. They will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his father, Felipe Lopez and his son, Vicente Ramon Lopez; Maternal grandparents, Albino and Juana Aleman; paternal grandparents, Antonio, and Margarita Lopez. Left to cherish his memory is his mother Juana Maria Lopez: his children, Alejandra Lopez, Victoria Lopez, Lucas Lopez, Brian Lopez, Jr., and Brianna Lopez. He is also survived by his 4 brothers: Gerardo “Jerry” Lopez, William Lopez, Arnold Lopez, and Felipe Lopez, Jr.; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, Texas with cremation to follow with accordance with his wishes.
