It is with full hearts that the De Leon family announces that Felix De Leon, 74, of San Benito, TX went home to the Lord on August 12, 2023. He took his last breaths full of faith and died peacefully surrounded by his devoted wife, honored sons, and precious daughter in Harlingen, Texas. Felix was born on February 10, 1949 in San Benito to Salvador De Leon, Sr., and Antonia Sauceda. He was a proud and lifelong resident of San Benito and fan of all things Greyhound. Felix worked for the CIty of San Benito for 35 years in various capacities finally retiring in 2012 as the Public Works Coordinator. Felix and his wife Guadalupe spent over fifty years together. They raised three children, Guillermo, Ruben, and Debbie. Felix had two older sons from a previous marriage, Felix, Jr. and Rey. Felix enjoyed fishing, going to "las maquinitas," watching the Dallas Cowboys, and supporting the San Benito High School Mighty Greyhounds on Friday nights. He enjoyed spending time with family and talking / joking with friends everywhere (especially at Walmart and HEB). Felix cared very deeply for his employees and always tried to help his fellow neighbors. He was generous, kind, loving, and faithful. Felix was a lifelong parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church where he served as an Usher and in his youth, attended school there. Felix is preceded in death by his father, Salvador, Sr, his mother, Antonia, his step-mother, Paula, and his older brothers Salvador, Jr. and Enrique. He is survived by his wife, Guadalupe, their sons Guillermo (Leona Jean), Ruben, daughter, Debbie {Jon) Mills, and his sons Felix, Jr. (Gloria), Rey (Rachel), as well as his sisters, Vicky (Raul) Hernandez and Juanita (Guillermo) De Leon Mendoza. Left to cherish his memory are his sixteen grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. The De Leon family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Holy Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 17 2023 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Benito, Texas. Interment will follow at the San Benito Memorial Park Cemetery. Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Felix De Leon, Jr., Ruben De Leon, Jack MIlls, Estefano De Leon, Albert Leal, Ricardo Leal, Jonathan Mills, and Rey De Leon. Honorary Pallbearers are Guillermo De Leon, Gilberto Leal, Jr., and his beloved dog, Rigby.
