Cresencio Gabino Rodriguez (CG), 78, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. Gabino was born on April 19, 1945, in El Cercado, Nuevo Leon to the late Jose Isabel Rodriguez and the late Rita Valdez de Rodriguez. He is survived by the love of his life, Maria De la Luz Moreno de Rodriguez. They were married for 56 years and raised four children together. Cresencio was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather known for his unwavering love and dedication to his family. Cresencio was a hardworking and respected member of his community. He spent most of his career as a dedicated employee for Valley Transit Company, where he made lasting friendships and touched the lives of many. He was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. In his free time, Cresencio enjoyed family time, singing, playing the accordion, and keeping in touch with family and friends on Facebook. Cresencio had a zest for life and a passion for music. His melodic voice would fill the room, enchanting those lucky enough to hear it. He sang until his last breath to the love of his life. Cresencio brought joy to any gatherings with family and friends, creating cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Above all, Cresencio will be remembered for his kind heart and selflessness. He touched the lives of many with his gentle nature, warm smile, and words of wisdom. He was a pillar of strength and support for his family, offering guidance and unconditional love throughout their lives. Cresencio's legacy will live on through his family, who will continue to cherish his memory and honor his values. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. The family would like to express their gratitude to the medical staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center for their compassionate care during Cresencio's final days. A special thanks to the (MICU) Intensive Care Unit doctors, physician assistants, specialists, nurses, and staff, who treated him like family showing love and compassion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Isabel and Rita Valdez, his sisters, Lydia Tamez and Maria Rodriguez Valdez, and his brothers, Jose De Los Reyes, Arturo Rodriguez, and Luciano Hector Garza. Left to cherish his memory are his wife: Maria M. Rodriguez; Children: Susana Aguilar (Manuel), Jorge Rodriguez (Cindy), Patricia Rodriguez Vasquez (Robert), and Erica Mercado (Albert). His Grandchildren: Manuel Jr., Michael, Mark, Maxanthony, and Michelle Aguilar; Brianna Espinosa, Arianna Vasquez; Albert, Andre, and Ayssa Mercado; Sarah and Jorge Jr. Rodriguez; Great-Grandaughter: Alyna May Aguilar; and Raised and Loved as Grandchildren: Emilio Gonzalez and Chloe Aguilar. Honorary Pallbearers: Manuel, Manuel Jr, Michael, Mark, and Maxanthony Aguilar; Albert, Albert Alexander, and Andre Mercado; Jorge and Jorge Jr. Rodriguez; Robert Vasquez; and Emilio Gonzalez. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. On Friday, July 14, 2023. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church 1300 Combes St. San Benito, TX 78586 with interment to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are entrusted under the care of Thome-Garza Funeral Home and Crematory, 395 S. Sam Houston, Blvd. San Benito, TX 78586.
