Reynaldo “The Walrus” Betancourt, 60, of Laguna Vista, TX passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023. Reynaldo graduated from Port Isabel High School in 1982. He was a father, brother, grandpa, and friend. He loved spending his free time fishing and participating in family events. Everyone who knew him knew he was a die-hard Houston Oilers Fan now known as the Tennessee Titans. He spent every waking moment with his grandchildren and his love for them was immeasurable. He somehow managed to aways carry a smile, even in his down days. He is preceded in death by his father +Daniel Salinas Betancourt; brother, +Guadalupe Betancourt; sister, +Debora Betancourt; 2 sisters-in-law, +Maria Betancourt, +Blanca Betancourt; and 1 brother-in-law, +George Oceguera, Jr. Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife, Rosa Adelfia Betancourt; children, Alejandro Ruiz, Petrona (Javier) Reina, Pedro Bardales, Reynaldo (Amber) Betancourt, and Tawnya Betancourt; mother, Casilda Martinez Betancourt; 3 brothers, Daniel Betancourt, Jr., Christobal (Noemi) Betancourt, and Santos (Liset) Salinas; 3 sisters, Amelia (Joe) Villarreal, Celia Martinez, and Francisca Betancourt. In addition, Reynaldo is survived by his grandchildren, Javier Reina, Jr., Itzel Reina, Sara Reina, Alejandro Ruiz, Jr., Damian Liam Andablo, and Serena Renee Andablo, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, July 03, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. and a Chapel Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Cremation will follow afterwards in accordance with his wishes.
