Guadalupe M. Martinez, 73, of San Benito, Texas, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023. She was born on March 10, 1950 in Mercedes, Texas. She moved to Brownsville to be closer to her parents who lived in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She welcomed her twin children in 1985, Mariam and Felipe, and in 1978 her last baby Hugo Montalvo. When they moved to San Benito, she worked at several restaurants, main one being Taco Jardin, making her famous flour tortillas. She met the love of her life while working at Taco Jardin, Eliberto Martinez, who was a City of San Benito worker, and got married in 1984. She devoted her life to raising and providing for her children. She loved gardening, playing chalupa, visiting family, attending religious services, and cooking. She was the happiest when family was gathered. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Eliberto Martinez; son, Hugo German Montalvo; brothers, Juan Montalvo Torres and Lorenzo Montalvo Torres; sister, Angelica Montalvo Torres; parents, Guadalupe and Felipa Torres Montalvo. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Miriam M.(Luis) Cano; son, Felipe D.(Janet) Montalvo; grandchildren, Nicolas Montalvo, Hugo Montalvo Jr., Elizabeth Montalvo, Emily Sanchez, and Miguel Cano; siblings, Maria De Jesus Montalvo Torres, Oscar Montalvo Torres, Maria Trinidad Montalvo Torres, Edelmira Montalvo Torres, Arnulfo Montalvo Torres, Minerva Montalvo Torres, Emilio Montalvo Torres, and Pedro Montalvo Torres. Visitation will begin Thursday, March 16, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Le encantaba la jardinería, jugar a la chalupa, visitar a la familia, asistir a los servicios religiosos y cocinar. Era más feliz cuando la familia estaba reunida. Le procede en muerte su esposo Eliberto Martinez, su hijo Hugo German Montalvo, hermoanos, Juan Montalvo Torres y Lorenzo Montalvo Torres, y su hermana Angelica Montalvo Torres.
