Eleno R. Vega, 74, of Port Isabel, TX passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Valley Regional Medical Center, Brownsville, TX. Eleno was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and served as an usher. Eleno was and Lifetime resident of Port Isabel. He loved hunting and fishing. He was a shrimper in the shrimping industry. He was also especially proud of being a security officer. Eleno is preceded in death by parents, Marcial Vega and Juanita Rivera, 1 brother, Evaristo Herrera; and 1 sister, Isabel Gorham; 3 brothers-in-law, Eliseo Jesus Luna, Henry B. Etheridge, and Fred Gonzalez; and 1 niece, Alma Iris Luna. Left to cherish his memory are 3 sisters, Frances H. Etheridge, Josefa Luna, and Maria del Carmen Gonzalez; 1 brother, Agapito Herrera (Maria de Jesus); 1 sister-in-law, Laura Herrera; 1 brother-in-law, Evaristo Gorham; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S Longoria St, Port Isabel, TX with cremation to follow in accordance with his wishes.
