Guadalupe T. Barrera, age 85, passed away peacefully on January 1st, 2023, at the comfort of his home surrounded by his beloved wife and family in San Benito, TX. He was born in Mexico on March 25th, 1937, to Federico & Eladia Barrera. He was the 5th born child out of 12 children. He is remembered by his family and friends as a lovable, respectful, and honorable man. Guadalupe was preceded in death by his father, Federico Barrera; mother, Eladia Torres; son, Mario Alberto Barrera; siblings, Miguel Barrera, Antonio Barrera, Mauro Barrera, Anita Lerma, Arminda Longoria and Micaela Gomez. He is survived by his loving wife, Noemi Barrera Sandoval, children: Jose Guadalupe ( Nelida) Barrera, Neida Guadalupe ( Sergio) Lerma, Norma Leticia, (Regulo) Ramirez, Marco Antonio (Aracely) Barrera, Gisela Nohemi (Samuel) Padilla and Miguel Angel Barrera; siblings, Benita Casas, Otila Martinez, Elodia Barrera, San Juanita Farias and Andres Barrera; granchildren: Mario Alberto, Sergio, Cecilia, Kassandra, Berenice, Ismael, Marco, Daniel, Samantha, Kayla, Manuel, Osvaldo, Jose and Matthew; great grandchildren: Mario, Nylah, Raelynn, Aliyah, Rafael and Aitana. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023, at from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 351 S. Bowie St, San Benito, TX with interment to follow to Las Rucias Cemetery.
