Joe Lee Bryant, 59, of Bayview, TX passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022. The tide took the captain out to sea on Wednesday, November 30th, he was fifty-nine. Better known as Joe Lee or Captain Joe, a beloved Father of two, spent much of his life on the water. Joe Lee was a key figure to South Padre Island and the main land Port Isabel as an exceptional boat captain and extraordinary diesel mechanic, he will be truly missed. Joe Lee's family will hold a boat procession December 18th, 2022, at 10:00am leaving Breakaway Cruises to celebrate his life, giving the captain one last comfortable ride across the water, where the tide will take him, to the vast, empty gulf he loved so much. There is no man more fit for the afterlife than Captain Joe Lee. Captain Joe Lee Bryant will pass through the South Padre Island Jetties for the final time on Sunday morning, December 18th. The Bryant family will lead a procession of boats, leaving the Breakaway Cruises dock at 10:00am. All are welcome to join in to pay their respects to one of the most well-known and beloved captains to ever cruise South Padre waters. The Breakaway boats, and the Captain Murphy’s boats are open on a first-come basis to anyone wishing to ride along. Joe Lee’s ashes will be spread at the end of the jetties, where the tides will carry them into the Gulf, the place where he spent so much of his life.
