Ricky Barrera was born September 16,1986 and graduated from San Benito High School. He was a 36-year-old truck driver and loved being on the road but most of all he loved making friends. Ricky Barrera passed away on October 14, 2022, but to us he is still here in spirit, and he will be remembered for being the loving, funny and easy-going person he was down here on Earth. To many people, Ricky was known as “THE BIG MAN”, best friend, best man, brother, son, and uncle. To us, he was our beloved brother and will be missed. He is survived by his mother Mary Castaneda Barrera, two sisters, Mariselda Barrera Rodriguez and Melinda Barrera’s sister in law Esmeralda Barrera nephew Rolando Rodriguez Jr., nieces Evany Romero and Eliana Renesmee Barrera and many cousins aunts and uncles as well. He is joined in Heaven with his father, Rito Barrera Jr., older brother, Rene Barrera, and grandparents as well. Honorary pallbearers are Alberto Armando Morato, Margarito Rios III, Rolando Rodriguez Jr., Roland Garcia, Mark Anthony Guzman, Juan Antonio Guzman and Gilberto W. Jasso. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a recitation of the Holy Rosary to be held at 7 pm. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 351 S Bowie St, San Benito, TX.
