Vidal B. Holland , 84, of Port Isabel, Texas passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022, at his home with his wife by his side. Billy Holland was a husband, married to the love of his life for 64 years. He had a prospers career as a shrimper for 46 years and after his long shrimping career, he was a boat captain transporting supplies to oil rigs. His last career choice was as campaign manager for his daughter, Sandra. He had a quick wit, loved to tell stories of past times, and had a big heart always willing to help others. He Loved to sing and dance and always sang to his wife up until the very last night. He was a jack of all trades and could always be seen making repairs to his home and working in the yard. He enjoyed wood working, spending time creating home and lawn holiday decorations and completing home improvements projects. There isn’t any western or action movie he hadn’t seen. He lived a fulfilled and accomplished life. He was a wonderful father to his 6 children and a loving grandfather to a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and he was involved in Valley Interfaith. He supported the PIISD athletic programs and band programs when his children and grandchildren were in high school. He was active in helping 2 of his grandsons become Eagle Scouts. He is Preceded in death by his parents: Enrique Holland Sr. and Isidra Barrientes; brothers: Enrique Holland Jr. and Uvaldo Holland Sr, Gonzalo Holland Sr and sisters; Anna Ochoa and Delia Holland Billy is survived by his loving wife of 64 years; Victoria Holland; children; Katie Holland, Vidal Holland Jr (spouse Aida Compean), Cynthia Holland (spouse Johnny Valdez), Enrique Holland Sr (spouse Velma Gomez), Sandra Holland and Annette Marie Holland (spouse Lucio Guevara) grandchildren; Ronda Concannon, Christina Bernal, Jonathan Holland, Michael Holland, Enrique Holland Jr, William Grace, James Grace, Kaliff Guevara and Jude Guevara; great grandchildren; Journey Bernal, Jamis Bernal, Jadyn Bernal, Jesslyn Bernal, Michael Flores, Matthew Flores, Violet Bernal, Declan Concannon, Braeden Concannon and Genesis Holland. Honored to be serving as pallbearers will be Katie Holland, Vidal Holland Jr., Cynthia Holland, Enrique Holland Sr., Sandra Holland, Annette Marie Holland, Lucio Guevara, and Orlando Ochoa Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be William Grace, James Grace, Kaliff Guevara, Jude Guevara and Jamis Bernal. Life celebration will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 5:00 p.m.-9 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday October 21, 2022, to begin at 11:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church located at 705 S. Longoria Street in Port Isabel Texas with burial to follow at the Port Isabel City Cemetery in Port Isabel, Texas. In Lieu of flower, donations may be made to the Billy Holland Memorial Fund C/O Victoria Holland at 202 E. Monroe Street Port Isabel, TX. 78578.
