Beatriz E. Cruz, 88, of Port Isabel, Texas passed away Friday, March 4, 2022. Beatriz was born on November 4, 1933 to the late Esteban and Antonia Lopez Esquivel in Ben Bolt, Texas. She spent a majority of her youth on her father’s ranch in Prisciliano Delgado, Tamaulipas. Later, she moved to the Rio Grande Valley, where she met her husband of 65 years, Jeronimo Cruz. She is preceded in death by her parents; Esteban and Antonia Lopez Esquivel, 1 daughter; Maria Letícia Abramson, 1 son; Gerardo Cruz, siblings; Manuel Esquivel, Cesario Esquivel, Esteban Esquivel Jr., Diego Esquivel, Homero Esquivel, Trinidad Infante, Olivia Renteria, Santos Medellin, Juanita Martinez, and Noemi Esquivel. She is survived by her loving husband; Jeronimo Cruz, 3 daughters; Carmela (Sebastian Alfredo Sr.) Lopez, Ana (Rolando Garcia) Cruz, and Veronica (Roxanne) Cruz; daughter in law, Mary Cruz; 1 sister, Rita Castillo; grandchildren, Briana (Nathaniel) Harris, Jerry Lopez, Sebastian Alfredo (Ashley) Lopez Jr., Caleb Cruz, Bonnie Du, Sade Abramson, Briana Du, Benjamin Du, Jaime Cruz, Ava Leos, Christopher Cruz, Lalo Cruz, Nathaniel Cruz and Israel Cruz; great grandchildren; Adriana Lopez, Ophelia Lopez, Mariah Harris, Monroe Harris and Nathaniel Harris and numerous nieces and nephews. Beatriz’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S Longoria St, Port Isabel, TX with interment to follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Sebastian Lopez, Sr., Sebastian Lopez Jr., Caleb Cruz, Benjamin Du, Rolando Garcia, Amado Zepeda, and Diego Esquivel.
