Robert Chavira Jr., 47, of Los Fresnos, Texas passed away on Wednesday October 20, 2021. Robert is preceded in death by his father: Roberto Chavira, and mother: Margarita Arredondo Chavira. Left to cherish his memories are is loving wife of 27 years: Ninfa Ruby Chavira, children: Julia Margarita and Robert Daniel, granddaughter: Cattleya Aylin (Eileen), and sister: Melissa Chavira. He was a very hard worker as he grew up helping his father with his upholstery business. After graduating from Los Fresnos High School in 1994, he started working for Kellog Motors as a car detailer. He married his high school sweetheart on May 28th 1994. He got his first real job working for the City of Brownsville Landfill where he learned how to make compost and many other things along with his crew. He would come home smelling funky and was excited to tell us what he learned or what he saw at the landfill every day. He then move onto something different which was in the green division/parks and recreation department. After completing a few years there, he transitioned to the airport department and started as a maintenance worker 1. He then went on to become a maintenance worker 2. He was eventually promoted to maintenance supervisor and retired after 22 years of being with the city of Brownsville. Along the way, he met so many important people such as Mayors, City Managers, City Leaders, and his favorite of all were his coworkers. He attended UTB and obtained a Diploma in Heating/Ventilation and AC. He earned a Certificate in Electrical Engineering and Carpentry. He would always reach for the stars no matter what situation he encountered. He was very involved in his community. He started off as a Soccer Coach for the AYSO Association and moved over to Softball and Pony League. After a couple of years he ventured over to Little League where he volunteered many hours enjoying sharing his knowledge of softball and baseball to many kids that he loved as his own. He helped lead the softball team along with his best friend, David Loera, to many District Championships and State Tournaments. He was a mentor and second dad to many of the kids involved in these two sports. He was well known for his infectious beautiful smile with big dimples, big brown eyes, and huge heart of gold. His laughter was contagious as well. He was always willing to help out anyone in need in any way that he could. He loved to hang out with his family and friends and he enjoyed BBQs every weekend. Whenever his best friend/brother would come into town; it was on! He was a very cheerful person who loved to dance Tejano music or whatever was on the radio. He was the greatest husband, father, brother, and grandfather anyone could ever ask for. We will miss him very much. May he rest in peace. We will always love him. On behalf of the Chavira family, we wish to thank you all who have joined us to celebrate his life. We love you all.
