Obituary of Maria Magdalena Garcia

Please share a memory of Maria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our sweet angel Maria Magdalena Garcia, born November 9th, 1941 entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 19th, surrounded by her loving family. She was a lifelong resident and proud of her hometown, Port Isabel, TX. Living all her life in Port Isabel, she was a devout woman of faith and was a devoted member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. One of her simple pleasures was dedicating her time to meditation and prayers. She religiously prayed the rosary and numerous prayers several times a day that she meticulously kept neatly arranged on her living room coffee table. Her other passion was education. She worked as a paraprofessional while attending Brownsville UT Pan American University through the Community Opportunities Program and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Her perseverance would lead her to continue her educational goals as she received her Masters Degree in Bilingual Education at Texas A&M University in Kingsville. As a Kindergarten teacher, she loved her students and “Nenita” was an inspirational role model and made a positive impact on her students’ lives. She genuinely cared for them and strived for their daily success. Maria Magdalena was a very generous and kindhearted soul and her philanthropic benevolence provided college scholarships for many of her former students upon graduation. Her proudest accomplishment in life was her forty-four years of dedicated service, in education, with the Point Isabel Independent School District. Referred to her lovingly by family as “Bebe”, we were truly blessed to have shared these 79 years with our angel and were fortunate to have had many beautiful family memories throughout her lifetime. “Bebe” is preceded in death by her loving parents, Roberto T. Garcia and Maria Magdalena Holland Garcia. She is survived by her siblings Roberto H. Garcia, Jr. (Ester), Sara Reyna (+Nick), Alma Moore (Wen), Rudy Garcia (Rita Nina) and Melba Garcia. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who adored her: Jesus Roberto Garcia, III, Ivy Murchison (Christopher), Aliza Garcia, Melanie Bennett (Felix) Wen Moore, Jr. (Melissa), Holsen Moore (Gina), Cybil Hernandez (Edward), Vanessa Khan (Ahad), Yvette Lichenburger (Donald Scott), Carlo Reyna, Alexis Reyna, Risa Eulogia Garcia-Ruiz(Jim), Maria Magdalena Garica, III (Robert), Marisa Natalí Garcia, Carisa Che Garcia-Padilla (Edwin). She was loved and will be missed by all her grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
