Meliton Gavino Resendez, 81 years of age passed from natural causes on September 18, 2021 in his lifelong town of San Benito, Texas surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by Meliton Resendez Sr., Paulina Resendez, Virginia Ruiz (Pablo), Ramiro Resendez (Susana). Meliton is survived by his wife, Susana M. Resendez, his children Mauricio Gavino Resendez, Milton Gabriel Resendez(Melissa G. Resendez) Xavier Resendez, and Jacqueline Suzanne Resendez, his stepchildren Jose de los Santos Moran and Terry Bell, and his siblings Estela Rodriguez (Jose ✝️), Concepcíon DeLeon(Enrique✝️), Delia Aguilar(Juan), Myra Resendez, Elida Chavez(Ausencio), Rosie Martínez (Joseph). Meliton is also survived by his 14 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. Meliton Gavino Resendez was born in San Juan de los Cerritos, San Luis Potosí, Mexico in 1940 and lived most of his life in San Benito Texas. He was a family man who loved to tell and enjoy a good joke, especially while surrounded by good friends. He was a truck driver who also loved good music, often times dancing to a good song, or playing guitar and singing a ballad. Visitation will be held Monday October 4, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at St. Theresa Catholic Church with interment to follow at the Las Rusias Memorial Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Milton Gabriel Resendez, Xavier Resendez, Julian Gonzalez, Mauricio Resendez, Richard Ruiz, and Christian Resendez. All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and must wear face covers or masks.
