The Lord gained another angel for eternal kingdom as Hilario “Layo” Avila, 85, passed away on Friday September 17, 2021 at his home in San Benito, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents: Luz and Trinidad Avila, brother: Manuel Gonzalez, sister: Yolanda Galvan, and grandson: Hilario Avila, III. Left to cherish his memory is his wife: Maria Isabel Avila, daughter: Criselda (Placido) Lopez, son: Hilario (Brenda) Avila Jr., grandkids: Adamri Sophia Avila and Yovani Manuel Avila and also nieces he helped raise: Isabel and Maribel Mercado. Visitation will be held Wednesday September 29, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Combes St, San Benito, TX 78586 with interment to follow at the Mont Meta Memorial Park. All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and must wear face covers or masks.
