Obituary of Juan Antonio Lopez-Martinez

Please share a memory of Juan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Juan Antonio Lopez Martinez “Big Nasty” age 35, born on October 23, 1985, passed peacefully on September 2, 2021, at his home at Fort Worth, TX. Juan was raised in his hometown of Port Isabel, TX and moved 6 years ago to live with his mom and sister in Fort Worth, TX. This is when he met and proposed to the love of his life, Juanita whom he lived with for 5 years. Juan loved being surrounded by family and friends and was a huge Dallas Cowboys Fan. He could listen to music all day and would always find his way to a dance floor to dance the night away. His passion for county music and dressing the part made him always stand out in his Cowboy get up, the way a Cowboy would. Juan got his nickname “Big Nasty” doing what he loved best on those Friday Night Games by being the biggest out on that Port Isabel Tarpon field and tackling his opponents nasty to ensure they won the game. His love for football didn’t change as his Cowboys would play. Juan was loved by so many for his kindness and willingness to help everyone. He has built a legacy and so many memories we will all get to cherish for years to come. You could always find Juan opening up a cold one “no mas una; Ya Tu Sabes” to enjoy the night away. Juan will walk the streets of gold with his Momma Hilda Martinez (✝️); he was survived by his father Antonio Lopez, Sister Connie Margarita Alonzo, brother-in-law Saul Alonzo, niece Estrella Marie Alonzo, fiancé Juanita Abigail Vazquez and stepson Matthew Liam Cardona. All of these he loved and touched so deeply. This is where we all can see a true Cowboy like Big Nasty Ride Away. Please join us in celebrating his life on Friday September 10th for a viewing from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. rosary at Thomae Garza Funeral home in San Benito, TX. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday September 11th at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church 705 S. Longoria St, Port Isabel, TX. Cremation to follow in accordance to his wishes.
