Olivia V. Lara, 93 of San Benito passed away on November 12, in San Benito, Texas. Olivia was born on July 23, 1927 to loving parents Baltazar Villanueva and Lorenza Hibarra Villanueva in San Benito, Texas. Olivia was a graduate of TSTC with Degrees in Accounting and Business Management. She married Jose Guadalupe Lara whose father’s family, Anacleto & Julia Lara, owned Lara’s Bakery located on Sam Houston Street in San Benito in the 1940’s. Olivia and her husband went on to own their own business in Harlingen and San Benito. After the passing of Mr. Lara, Mrs. Olivia Lara continued working at MHMR in Harlingen, TX with special needs children. She was the epitome of unconditional love; caring for several foster children, talking and counseling them. She traveled with friends and family all along helping and loving her 3 beautiful children making them the most important part of her life. Thereafter, she cared and loved her grandchildren, guiding them and always giving them loving support, praise, appreciation and advice. Olivia lived life to her fullest; enjoying nature, life, always being happy and optimistic. She always loved to sing. Her father, Baltazar, was a professional violinist and she played violin in younger days – and singing and music was her happy world. Despite obstacles, she left us a great example of a good life. She will be greatly missed and will always be greatly loved. Olivia is our most wonderful, loving, caring mother and grandmother in the whole wide world.
