Con mucha tristeza la Familia Munoz Ruelas, de El Ranchito Tx.; anuncia el fallecimiento de la Sra. Pura Muñoz Ruelas, el pasado Domingo Septiembre 6 del 2020, a la edad de 87 años. Nacida en Cruillas, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Hija de Guillermo Ruelas y Arnulfa Flores en Agosto 02 del 1934. Precedida por la muerte de su esposo Jose Muñoz, hijo Ramon Muñoz [Alicia Muñoz] hijo Erasmo Muñoz [Concha Muñoz]: le sobreviven su hijo Ricardo Muñoz [Celeste Muñoz] Jose Muñoz [Idalia Garcia] Sylvia Muñoz y Maria Muñoz [Mauricio Ramos]. Pura será recordada con cariño por numerosos sobrinos, sobrinas, primos, nietos, bisnietos, familia y amigos. Como una familia migrante Jose y Pura Muñoz primero cruzaron a los Estados Unidos en los años 1960-1965 al pequeño pueblo llamado La Villa Texas, donde su marido y hermanos Civio y Primitivo Muñoz estuvieron a cargo de una granja de algodon de 500- acres. En 1965 se migraron a Hollister CA a la temporada de las ciruela pasas, albaricoques y nueces; Pura supervisaba todas las tareas del hogar y cocinaba lo cual la enorgullecia. Ellos viajaban de regreso al estado de Texas durante la temporada Decembrinas y Año Nuevo antes de empacar sus pertenecias y seguir la temporada de producción. Una gran lista de muchos estados donde viajaron juntos durante la temporada de tomate que incluyen: Homestead, Fl, Palmetto, Fl, Leipsic, OH., Summoned, IN. y Edisto, SC. Eventualmente y estableciendose en el pueblo de Parrish, Fl,. por mas de 25 años, antes de finalmente asentarse en el pueblo de El Ranchito, Tx. en la Encantada Cir. Pura tenia una gran pasión por los pájaros, la jardinería, jugar Skip-Bo, la chalupa, poder viajar y mas que nada poder cocinar para toda su familia. Muchas de sus recetas favoritas incluyen tortillas hechas a mano, empanadas, galletas, guisados y su pasion favorita poder hacer tamales, lo cual unía a su familia en su hogar durante ocasiones especiales y fechas festivas. Pura tuvo un caracter y voltudad muy fuerte, lo cual le ayudó a superar muchas cirugías potencialmente mortales incluyendo el ser sobreviviente de cancer en dos ocasiones. Born in Cruillas, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Guillermo Ruelas and Arnulfa Flores on August 2, 1934, preceded in death by her husband Jose Muñoz, son Ramon Muñoz {Alicia Muñoz} son Erasmo Muñoz {Concha Muñoz}, survived by son Ricardo Munoz {Celeste Muñoz } Jose Muñoz {Idalia Garcia} Sylvia Muñoz, and Maria Muñoz {Mauricio Ramos}. Pura will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and family. As a migrant family Jose and Pura Muñoz first crossed to the US in 1960’s to the small town called La Villa, Texas where her husband and his brothers Sivio and Primitivo Muñoz where in charge of a 500- acre cotton farm for four years. In 1965 they migrated to Hollister, CA for the prunes, apricot and walnut season, Pura would oversee all the household duties and cooking which she took great pride in. They would travel back to Texas during Christmas and New Year’s before packing their belongings and following the produce season. A list of many states they traveled together for the tomato season included Homestead, FL, Palmetto, FL, Leipsic, OH, Summoned, IN and Edisto Beach, SC. Eventually settling down in Parrish, FL for about 25 plus years before finally residing in the town of El Ranchito, TX on Encantada Cir. Pura had a passion for birds, gardening, playing SKIP-BO and Chalupa, traveling and most of all cooking for her family. Many of her favorite recipes include homemade tortillas, empanadas, cookies, guisados, and her favorite, making tamales in which family would gather at her home for special occasions and holiday. Pura was of strong character and was very strong willed which helped her overcome many life threating surgeries including being a Cancer survivor. A celebration of Pura’s life will be held on Thursday September 17, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday September 18, from 8:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m., with a chapel service at 10:00 a.m., at Thomae Garza Funeral Home 395 S Sam Houston Blvd, San Benito, TX 78586.
