Please share a memory of Natividad to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Natividad “Nati” Tamez Lopez, Sr. went to be with the Lord at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas on August 16, 2020 at the age of 83. Nati is preceded in death by his parents Edubijes Lopez and Vicenta Tamez Lopez, brothers Sotero Lopez, Atanacio Lopez and Bernardo Lopez, sister Anita Lopez de Luna, wife Scharlene Davie Lopez, and sons Joe Lopez and Martin Lopez. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Natividad Lopez Jr. (Celia), Elma Nickeson (Mike), Edubijes “Vic” Lopez (Mary V.), Phillip Lopez (Graciela), Bernard Lopez, Bertha Lopez, George Lopez (Rosa), and Charles Lopez; daughter-in-law Adrianna B. Lopez; 24 grandchildren, and 51 great-grandchildren who loved him very much. Nati was born on December 26, 1936, to Edubijes and Vicenta Tamez Lopez in La Villa Nueva, Texas. He met the love of his life, Scharlene Davie at a migrant camp in Raymondville, Texas. They got married on February 16, 1955 in Raymondville. They raised ten children together in San Benito, Texas where they lived. Nati was a hard worker who worked as a custodian for several years in the San Benito School District before devoting his time to installing fences all over the Rio Grande Valley with his sons. He taught his children to work hard and persevere in their lives. He loved to spend weekends fishing with his children at the jetties of South Padre Island, where they would reel in groupers that would weigh hundreds of pounds. That love of fishing passed on to his children and grandchildren and has been instrumental in creating wonderful memories in their individual families. Nati loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. He always devoted time to speaking to them on their level. With a sparkle in his eye, he would tease them and make them laugh at what he said. It was important to him that they knew how much he loved them. They, in return, loved their grandpa dearly. He will be greatly missed. Due to current circumstances, services are pending and will be announced at a later date.
