Maria Carmen Olivares 87 of San Benito, Texas, passed away on August 8, 2020. She was born in Guanajuato, Mexico and lived in Ejido Perote, Maria then came to the United States to live over 40 years ago. Maria is preceded in death by her father, Joaquin Olivares; mother, Defina Martinez; two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her son, Barnabe Torres; daughters, Bertha Castillo (Sebastian) and Minerva Rodriguez (Daniel); 16 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren; and seven brothers and sisters. A visitation will begin Friday, August 14, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas with a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. at Esparza Cemetery in El Ranchito, Texas. Due to current restrictions, this establishment will follow the 25% occupancy limit and all persons shall institute social distancing of a minimum space of 6 feet apart.
