Mauricio Obispo, 74 of Laguna Heights, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020. Mauricio was a shrimper in the shrimping industry and a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He worked 14 years for the Port of Brownsville and 3 years at Schlitterbahn Water Park. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus Obispo and Concepcion Aleman; and his siblings, Jesus Obispo Aleman, Genaro Obispo Aleman, Juana Obispo Aleman, and Primitivo Obispo Aleman. Mauricio is survived by his loving wife, Concepcion Orduna De Obispo; children, Omar Orduna Gonzales, Jose de Jesus Obispo Orduna, Juanita Obispo Orduna, and Amauri Obispo Orduna; grandchildren, Katia Guadalupe Torres Obispo, Laisha Torres Obispo, Fernando Torres Obispo, Maria Concepcion Torres Obispo, Omar Orduna Tirado, Emily Orduna Tirado, Jan Alxander Orduna Castro, Johan Obispo Cadena and Franco Obispo Cadena; and siblings Epifanio Obispo Aleman, Alejandro Obispo Aleman, and Pedro Obispo Aleman. A visitation will begin Sunday, August 2, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas and cremation will follow. Due to current restrictions, this establishment will follow the 25% occupancy limit and all persons shall institute social distancing of a minimum space of 6 feet apart.
