Manuel Castillo, 91 of San Benito, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, in Harlingen, Texas. Manuel was born in San Benito, Texas March 26, 1928 to Ventura and Alberta Castillo. He was a World War II Navy Veteran having served on the U.S.S. Hambleton (DMS-20) Destroyer Minesweeper. He worked and retired from Brownsville Public Utilities Board in the electrical engineering department. He is preceded in death by his son, Manuel Eduard Castillo; parents, Ventura and Alberta Castillo; and two brothers, Eliseo and Damian Castillo. Manuel is survived by his loving children, Berta (Raul) Arteaga, Carlos Castillo, Cecilia Castillo, Emilio Castillo, Rolando Castillo, and Jaime Castillo; along with his grandchildren, Briana K. Arteaga, Ricardo R. Arteaga, Alejandro Garcia, Eduardo Castillo, Everardo J. Castillo, and Alejandra Castillo. Visitation will begin Monday, January 20, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ricardo R.
