Maria Reyes Salinas, 91 of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020, surrounded by her loving family in Brownsville, Texas. She lived in Port Isabel all her life, working and raising her family. Maria was a lifetime member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, was a member of the Guadalupanas and the prayer blankets group. She is preceded in death by her husband, Epifanio Salinas; granddaughter, Joanna Marie Salinas; four brothers, Jesus Gonzalez, Federico Gonzalez, Cayetano Gonzalez Jr., and Francisco Gonzalez; and two sisters, Rita De La Garza and Estela Castillo. Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Ernesto (Connie) Salinas, Josie Salinas (Robert) Lopez, Joel Salinas, and Maria Alicia Salinas Lopez; four grandchildren, Amanda L. Lopez, Jaime Salinas, Adrian Salinas, and Robert Salinas; six great grandchildren, Michael Mascari, Gabriel Lopez, Angela Lopez, Tyler Salinas, Casey Salinas, and Megan Salinas; six brothers, Abelardo Gonzalez, Joe Nichols, Carlos Gonzalez, Anselmo Gonzalez, Juan Gonzalez, and Arnulfo Gonzalez; and two sisters, Evangelina Barrera and America Gonzalez. Visitation will begin Tuesday, January 7, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas and continues from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, Texas. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with burial to follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery.
