Maria “Mary” Elena Atkinson, 64 of Los Fresnos, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2019, in Harlingen, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Andres and Micaela Silva Alvarez; and six siblings, Benito Alvarez, Guadalupe Cortez, Enrique Alvarez, Josefina Trevino, Fabian Alvarez, and Herminia Ramirez.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Alejandro Atkinson Jr.; four children, Norma Lee Atkinson (Mario) Cisneros, Estevan “Steve” (Angela) Atkinson, Leticia Atkinson, and Amy (Asael) Ruvalcaba; 15 grandchildren; four siblings, Andres Alvarez Jr., Librada McLeister, Magdalena “Lina” Kitchens, and Johnny Alvarez; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will begin Thursday, December 19, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2019, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church and burial will follow at Los Cuates Cemetery in Los Fresnos, Texas.
