Rodolfo “RORO El Sapo” Barrera, 63 of Port Isabel/Los Fresnos, Texas, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2019. He was a lifelong resident of Port Isabel, Texas and member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Rodolfo was a diehard Tarpon fan and was the first one to be at the Port Isabel Tarpon football games. He was a third generation Shrimping Captain.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus M. and Zolia Garcia Barrera; brother, Nicolas Barrera; and sister, Serafina Montoya.

 

Rodolfo is survived by his loving wife, Matilde Sanchez Barrera; three sons, Rudy Barrera Jr., Eddie (Vanessa) Barrera, and Mark Kilroy Barrera; two daughters, Connie (Eric) Ybarra and Dominique (Hector Lopez) Barrera; eleven grandchildren; Marbie, Rudy III, Liliana, Bella, Daniel, Lalo, Conrad, Romeo, Eddie Jr., Hector III, and Eric Jr.; five brothers, Juan J. Garza, Samuel Garza, Jesus G. Barrera, Guadalupe G. Barrera, and Raul G. Barrera; along with several nephews, nieces, and other relatives.

 

Visitation will begin Monday, December 2, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home and will continue from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, Texas.

 

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with cremation to follow in accordance to his wishes.

 

Honored to serve as pallbearers are his five children.
