Obituary of (Deacon) Benito G. Flores

(Deacon) Benito Gonzales Flores, 91, of San Benito, Texas, entered eternal rest on January 16, 2019. Benito was born on April 3, 1927 in Inaria, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. Antonio and Regina Flores.

At the age of 18, Benito enlisted into the United States Naval Service. Vessels and Stations he served on were the NTC San Diego, California, USS Texas, NAS Corpus Christi, Texas, USS Begor (SPD 127), and the USS AFD 29. He spent 7 months of deployment to the Asia Pacific area during the American Area Campaign where there was a World War II victory. After his service and duty to the United States Naval Service, he married the love of his life, Sofia Guerra, on April 3, 1948. During his civilian life he started working for Central Power & Light and while working with CPL he attended classes to serve the Lord as a Deacon. He served as a Deacon at St. Theresa Catholic Church for 38 years.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sofia Guerra Flores; father, Antonio Flores; mother, Regina Gonzales Flores; and brothers, Andres and Gilberto Flores.

Benito is survived by his sons, Placido (Anita) Ramirez, Benito (Angie) Flores Jr., Armando (Irma) Flores, Arnulfo “Nuco” (Janie) Flores, Arnoldo “Cochise” Flores, and Albert (Isabel) Flores; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and siblings, sister, Guadalupe Villarreal; brothers, Pedro, Elias, and Ricardo Flores.

Visitation will begin Friday, January 18, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Combes St., San Benito, Texas.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at St. Theresa Catholic Church followed by entombment at Mont Meta Memorial Park Mausoleum in San Benito, Texas.
