Obituary of Carlo Joel Garza

Carlo Joel Garza, 34, of Brownsville, Texas, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018, in Indiana.

Carlo was a lifelong resident of Brownsville, TX. Carlo graduated from Hanna High School in 2002, where he played football for the Hanna Eagles. He graduated from the University of Texas at Brownsville, earning a bachelor's degree in multidisciplinary studies in 2014.  Carlo worked in real estate for Resaca Realty for several years.  In his spare time, he loved fishing, barbecuing for his friends and family, and being a marksman.  He enjoyed 4-wheeling and loved spending time on the island.  Carlo could make anyone laugh with his unrelenting jokes and would invent phrases that would stick with you. Best known for his sense of humor, he will be missed by his friends and family.

Carlo is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Benito Ochoa Jr. and Maria V. Ochoa; paternal grandfathers, Roque Garza Sr. and Juan R. Garza; and godfather, Whitman William Bodden.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving parents, Victor and Chayo Garza; sister, Elma Teresa Garza; brother, Victor Hugo Garza; paternal grandmothers, Socorro Garza and Carmen Garza; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and godmother, Marianella Bodden.

Visitation will begin Thursday, November 1, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria, Port Isabel, Texas with cremation to follow in accordance to his wishes.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Victor Hugo Garza, Louie Gonzalez, Benito “Bo” Ochoa, Whitman Bodden, A.J. Buenrostro, Carlos Calderon, Christopher Briales, Rick Muniz, Ryan Muniz, C.J. Alvarado, Ariel Pena, William Johnathan Bodden, and Saul Daniel Ochoa.
